Taking cognizance of the impact of the pandemic, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has further extended due dates for income tax compliances which were earlier extended to June 30, 2020, vide Taxation, and Other Laws (Relaxation of Certain Provisions) Ordinance, 2020.

Below is a snapshot of the key extensions applicable to corporates:

  • The due date for filing original as a well-revised income tax return for Financial Year (FY) 2018-19 has been extended to 31st July 2020;
  • The due date of filing income tax return for FY 2019-20 has been extended to 30th November 2020. Returns that were due on 31st July and 31st October will now need to be filed by 30th November;
  • The due date for withholding tax return for the quarter ending 31st March 2020 has been extended to 31st July 2020;
  • TDS certificates for period January-March 2020 can be issued till 15th August 2020 including Form 16 to employees.
