Ramthal Drip to Market Agro Corridor (DMAC) is the largest drip irrigation project by the Government of Karnataka and 2030 WRG (World Bank subsidiary). Sannam S4 along with their partner Larive International successfully organised 2nd series of workshop on June 12 & 13, 2017 for 2030 Water Resource Group and the Government of Karnataka.
Large food and agriculture companies were invited to participate in the Focus Group Discussions (FGD) between the large group of farmers and private companies to discuss the benefits from the project. How the drip irrigation scheme can help double food production in the coming years. The scheme is being seen as a benefit for farmers in the arid region, who depend almost exclusively on scanty rainfall for cultivation during the rabi season.
The workshop objective is to establish market linkages for farmers in the Ramthal Drip Irrigation project, an invitation to collaborate with water and agriculture departments of the Government of Karnataka to:
1. Encourage and invite participation from private sector players to become partners in market development
2. Make farmers understand the private sector expectations; and
3. Develop a joint agenda for action and ensure robust market linkages for the farmers
This was the next step from the previous workshop which we organised for them on May 2, 2017, at Bangalore. These have been the most successful series and by October 2017 there will be some further concrete steps will be taken forward.
We are working very closely with the group on this great initiative by The Government of Karnataka and 2030 WRG along with our partner Larive International.
