In an attempt to compile and consolidate all the recent decisions taken by the Indian Government with respect to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in different sectors, the Consolidated FDI Policy, 2020 effective from 15th October 2020 has been released by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), after a gap of three years. Broadly, the Policy includes key amendments like:
- Obtaining Government approval for investments from an entity of a country that shares a land border with India or from a beneficial owner of such country.
- E-commerce marketplace entities to obtain and maintain a report of Statutory Auditors by 30th September every year, confirming compliance of e-commerce guidelines.
- Clarification on FDI limit on 26 % in Digital Media and other such amendments.
