U.S. Business Centers Initiatives

Motivated by the commitment to rapidly expand U.S. cross-border investment and trade, and learning from what countries like Germany, United Kingdom, and Japan have successfully implemented to grow exports, the first-ever U.S. Business Center was inaugurated in February 2016 in Mumbai, India. Senior representatives of both governments, as well as prominent U.S. and Indian business and civic leaders, attended the launch ceremony at the Center. The U.S. Business Centers’ initiative in India is led and operated by market entry specialist Sannam S4, Inc., and the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) along with private sector partners including Citibank, Taj Hotels Resorts & Palaces and JLL. Other key partners will be engaged for other international markets.
The model adopted by the U.S. Business Centers is designed to provide a fully integrated support platform for new U.S. entrants to foreign markets assisting them with their market entry and the expansion of their international business. Services available to U.S. organizations within the U.S. Business Centers include accounting, payroll, compliance services, staff, recruitment and HR advisory, sales and business development support, market research and channel development.




Expanding Strategic Partnerships

Sannam S4 entered into a Strategic Partnership with the International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce to strengthen the global competitiveness of U.S. industry, particularly small and medium enterprises (SMEs), in markets like India.  Under the partnership, signed in October 2016, Sannam S4 is collaborating with the U.S. Commercial Service including the nationwide U.S. Export Assistance Centers (USEACs) and Foreign Commercial Service, to provide the valuable “Next Steps” of support needed for companies to succeed abroad.

Tangible Results

The U.S. Business Centers have facilitated the successful entry and expansion of a range of U.S. small and medium sized companies, institutions, and other organizations into India. The Centers’ end-to-end platform provides access to organizations that would otherwise not have the resources to implement the necessary functions to establish and operate effectively and compliantly in foreign markets


The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is part of a successful group of companies, which first began in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1969. AIM has maintained a tradition of excellence in education throughout its expansion of aviation career schools over more than four decades. The FAA demands the world’s highest and strictest standards for training aviation professionals.
With India having the fastest growing aviation market in the world, AIM chose to utilize LaunchPadTM in order to increase enrollment and awareness of AIM’s programs as well as develop strategic partnerships with India-based companies and institutions.

Packet Design, an Austin, Texas-based tech company, was founded with the goal of closing a critical network service assurance gap. Myriad vendor tools monitor and measure infrastructure health, bandwidth consumption, traffic composition, application response times, etc., but only Packet Design correlates the performance of critical services delivered across the network to routing behavior, in real time. When OSS/NMS dashboards are green but users are complaining of intermittent service outages or poor performance, Packet Design tells you why.

Packet Design began 2016 with several software developers on the Center’s LaunchPadTM platform. As advised by the U.S. Business Centers team, the company decided to roll the support team onto its own entity. The Centers’ team setup Packet Design’s entity, onboarded their employees with proper benefits, and handled the tax, accounting and corporate governance compliance.


Royal Equipment

A Texas-based company, Royal Equipment was founded in 1989 and continues to be a global leader in remanufactured mining equipment.  Royal’s professionals understand that mineral mining companies and contractors can’t afford less-than-optimal performance from their equipment fleet, much less the downtime caused by equipment failures.  Royal utilizes a global network of subcontractors, rebuild facilities, inventory, and highly skilled technicians to deliver high quality reman components at a fraction of the cost of new.

Royal has offices in the U.S. and Australia and after landing a key client in India has looked to the U.S. Business Centers’ team to setup their India office.  The Centers’ team has advised on the appropriate structure as well as the management and execution of local registrations and compliance.  The support will allow Royal to focus on what it is good at – delivering quality service and product to its clients.

John Snow Inc. and JSI Research and Training Institute Inc. (JSI) is a Boston-based NGO comprised of more than 2,100 professionals who are recognized for their technical excellence, commitment to public health, client satisfaction, and contributions of knowledge to the health care field. JSI receives funding from U.S. Government agencies like U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and has delivered several projects in India.

In 2016, the U.S. Business Centers India team conducted an extensive Financial, Tax, Operational and HR audit for JSI to streamline its Indian operations and also supporting JSI to relocate its local office in New Delhi, India to a bigger and more cost efficient location. The U.S. Business Center is plays an ongoing role as an adviser and sounding board to JSI, while also managing Indian Financial, Tax and HR compliance.
